I live here in the beautiful Florida Keys for the long summers, mild winters, and the abundance of fun outdoor activities available year-round. The massive winter blast the country has experienced has finally reached here. No doubt it is cold! This shakes up everything I do, so we have some things to talk about for February. Let’s dive into the details. This will be much shorter than normal and may have a mid-month update to see how this plays out.
I have been watching the news and social media reports for most of my information. Nearly everybody has been stuck indoors, at the dock, and off the water per conditions. Before the front, we had 70-degree water on average, and today I have 54 degrees at the dock. That is not good and closes many of my normal offerings until conditions flip back to normal. This is bad in many ways, but it also offers contrast in opportunity. Somewhere out of the reef, there is a radical divide of cold, dirty water smashing against warmer, deeper water. Everything that had the ability and sense to flee the shallow cold water is now happy in the warm water. This will create unusual concentrations of fish on the structure, and other areas will just have displaced fish coming and going. The normal rules are temporarily suspended, and opportunities should be abundant in deeper water structures. Fish in a barrel.

Things have slowed down a bit for us lately, just like for many other businesses. If you want to get out on the water, I’d be happy to talk about the best options for your group.
A quick heads-up on getting in touch: please shoot me a text or call and leave a voicemail. Between you and me, the telemarketers have been relentless lately, so I usually let unknown numbers go to voicemail—but I promise I will get right back to you!
Current Conditions & Weather: Right now, getting in the water isn’t possible. Another cold snap is coming on February 6th, but after that, the forecast looks great. The water will probably stay cold through most of February, but the air will start to warm up soon.
Don’t let the cool weather stop you! My boat stays dry and has a big windscreen to keep us comfortable as we move around. Dressing in layers makes cool days easy to handle. A little extra planning for comfort goes a long way, and being prepared always helps us have a great time. Let’s go make some memories!

Overall, business is doing great, though we are currently catching our breath during a bit of a slow stretch. I’m using this downtime to completely rebuild the website! We will be launching a fresh new look later this month, specifically designed to make booking as simple and easy as possible for you.
I’ve also been working hard on social media to showcase what our trips look like. Recently, someone commented on my lack of personal content taken during the trips. The honest answer? When we are out there, my absolute priority is the customer experience. I am constantly working, setting up the best shots for my guests, and keeping the momentum going. Stopping the action to film things on my own phone would be like turning off the engine right when we’re winning a race!
Because I am so hands-on during the action, I rely on my wonderful customers to help me capture the memories. I’ve been making a bigger push lately to ask guests to share their on-the-water photos, videos, and a quick review after their trip. I know everyone gets busy once they head home, but collecting these shared memories is a hurdle I’m actively working on. If you’ve been on a trip recently, please consider sending over your favorite shots or dropping a review—it truly means the world to my business!
